Pertamina : Cepu Block is the New Hope for National Energy

Jakarta - Pertamina president director Dwi Sutjipto said that the Banyu Urip field at Cepu Block will be a new hope to secure the national energy supplies.

“This is a historical moment. The lifting from Banyu Urip will cover 25 to 30 percent of the national oil supplies,” Dwi said after inaugurating the first lifting at FSO Gagak Rimang on Sunday, April 12, 2015.

Dwi explained that the oil production at the Banyu Urip field has gradually increased to 80,000 barrels per day. Dwi added that the field is expected to increase the productivity by 165,000 barrels per day by the end of this year, which would establish it as the oil field with the highest productivity in Indonesia.

“The production will account for 25 to 35 percent of the national oil production. We can reduce imports and improve the energy resilience,” Dwi added.

PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PECP) will send 550,000 barrels of crude oil from FSO Gagak Rimang to Pertamina’s refineries in Cilacap and Balongan. PEPC is one of contractors, along with ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL) and Ampolex Cepu PTE LTD, that owns 45 percent of the oil field. The other 10 percent of the shares are owned by the local regional-owned enterprise.
